New content include several textures and sprites, new monsters, as well as the five maps from Episode 3.Īll maps are in the Hexen map format, and the WAD contains ZDoom-style lumps: DECORATE, MAPINFO, SNDINFO, ANIMDEFS, TEXTCOLO, LOCKDEFS, and LANGUAGE therefore Chex Quest 3 can only be played on a ZDoom-compatible port.Ĭhex Quest 3 includes the enemies of both previous episodes, with some slight tweaks, as well as new ones. However, it is not compatible with mods created for the original Chex Quest as it modifies several actors, including changes to their editor numbers. However, much like the Oculus Quest's Doom3Quest mod, modders have built a similar version of Doom 3 running in VR for PC owners to use. The Doom3Quest mod may even prove to be more valuable than the official version in the future, with Team Beef (the developers of the mod) having said responded to questions about multiplayer, stating "there is a possibility this may come later." Is Doom 3 VR on Valve Index?ĭoom 3 VR's official version is unavailable for PC VR devices, as it is a PSVR-exclusive title. The Doom3Quest mod can be downloaded from SideQuest, but will also require players to own Doom 3 on Steam (Note: Players must own this DOOM 3 version and not Doom 3 BFG). However, this doesn't mean Oculus Quest owners will have to go about their lives without any Doom in VR. We're unsure whether it will ever make its way onto the platform, although we'd recommend not getting your hopes up after Bethesda and Facebook clashed over the Oculus in 2018. This is especially frustrating for Oculus owners given that when the Rift was first launched on Kickstarter in 2012, it promised to bundle Doom 3 BFG with the headset.
